KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has launched a relief campaign for rescue, relief and rehabilitation after the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district caused huge loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other areas.

The Chamber has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property due to the floods and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members. The Chamber has also expressed its commitment to always stand with the affected public, domestic and foreign travellers, industrialists and local communities wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured.

According to the Chamber, houses, shops, private and public vehicles, cargo vehicles, vehicles in the customs yard, bridges, hydropower projects and other physical infrastructures have been badly damaged due to the floods.

The Chamber has said that it has started the relief collection and distribution work with the objective of assisting in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the disaster. The Chamber has provided immediate cash and kindergarten assistance through the respective district chambers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading and will continue additional relief assistance as per the need.

The Chamber has already sent a drone with a payload capacity of 50 kg and a surveillance drone to Bidur Municipality to make the rescue work more effective. Similarly, final preparations are being made to send a drone with a capacity of 100 kg payload and more help will be provided, the Chamber said.

The Chamber has also provided 125 power banks in the affected areas. Similarly, Nepal Youth Chamber has organized a blood donation program at the Secretariat in Jamal on September 24 and will continue the program as per the need.

The Chamber has also urged its subordinate district and town chambers, Nepal Women’s Chamber, Nepal Youth Chamber, Disaster Management Council and other stakeholders to be active in rescue, relief and necessary management works.

The Chamber has said that in this difficult time of disaster, the government, private sector, social organizations and the general public should all come together by providing every possible support from their respective places. The Chamber has pledged to provide necessary support and cooperation in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas along with immediate rescue and relief.
