KATHMANDU: A certain amount of the monthly salary of the government employees will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. A secretary-level meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today decided to contribute on behalf of the civil servants in the relief and rehabilitation work after the huge loss of life and property caused by the disaster.

According to the agreement, two days’ salary will be deposited in the fund from non-grade employees, five days’ salary from non-gazetted or equivalent employees, seven days’ salary for gazetted third and second class or equivalent employees and 10 days salary deduction equivalent to 1÷0 days from gazetted first class and special category employees. For this, about Rs 360 million will be contributed to the relief fund by the employees of the federal government.

The meeting also decided to call upon the employees working at the province÷ local levels and all public bodies to contribute to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. The meeting also decided to carry out search, rescue, relief, temporary shelter and other works of the people affected by the floods in a coordinated manner with high priority.

The meeting also decided that all the ministries and bodies would immediately mobilize their resources, means and human resources in order to make the disaster-related works efficient and effective, make arrangements for the employees to be present as per the need even on public holidays and make arrangements for the operation of services by the bodies concerned.

The meeting also decided to immediately start the construction of essential infrastructure including roads, bridges, drinking water, electricity and telecommunication damaged by floods and resume public services.
