Bhotekoshi floods: 1,473 rescued, 553 bodies recovered

{{TAG_OPEN_div_29} Kathmandu. The death toll in the flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district has reached 553. According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, 553 bodies have been recovered from different districts so far.

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, 13 dead bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 40 in Dhading, 31 in Tanahun, 38 in Nuwakot, 47 in Gorkha, 222 in Chitwan, 134 in Nawalparasi East and 28 in Nawalparasi West.TAG_OPEN_div_27

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Abinarayan Kafle, 1,473 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas so far. Among them, 572 were rescued from Rasuwa, 898 from Nuwakot and three from Dhading.TAG_OPEN_div_23

The injured have been rescued from different places and some have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. According to the police, there are 97 people who are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Kathmandu and have been discharged after treatment.

Employees of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal and Customs Office and Immigration Office have also been out of contact after the floods. According to the police, 44 personnel of the Nepal Army, 27 of the Nepal Police and 13 of the Armed Police Force are still out of contact.TAG_OPEN_div_19

So far, 2,381 people, including the public, are out of contact due to the floods, according to the police. Search and rescue operations have been intensified in the flood-affected areas.
