Bhaktapur. The rescue of people stranded in Dhunche due to the flood in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa on August 10 has also been started by land.

The Bagmati Province government has made arrangements to bring the pilgrims, tourists and general public living in Dhunche to the Kathmandu Valley using an alternative route. Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar coordinated for this.

Chief Minister Thapa said, “We have made arrangements to feed the people who are stranded in Dhunche there, after feeding them, we have taken them to Mahavir by motor vehicle and after walking for about an hour from Mahabir, they will be sent back to Kathmandu by vehicle.” He said that the state government has arranged free buses for the stranded passengers waiting for rescue to reach Kathmandu.

He said that the state government has also made arrangements for food for the general public in Dhunche and Chaugati. Similarly, the Bagmati Province government has started efforts to restore the traffic by repairing the obstructed Mid-Hill Highway in the area across Trishuli. After the operation of the road, the people of the affected areas including Rasuwa will be able to come to Kathmandu using the same route as an alternative.

The road network in Rasuwa district, which was disrupted due to flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River on Wednesday morning, has resumed.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), the Kathmandu-Tokha-Chhahare-Gadkharpul-Apra-Narja-Lachyang-Sarmathali-Patikharka road section has been opened for the operation of four-wheelers.

With the resumption of the road section, Rasuwa has been connected to the road network again, according to the authority. It is expected that with the restoration of road connectivity, it will be easier to carry out relief, rescue and supply of essential materials to the flood-affected areas.
