Kathmandu. Disaster management expert Ujjwal Upadhyay has said that high alertness should be maintained in the coastal areas as the water level in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers has risen.

“It is necessary to be vigilant and carry out search, rescue and relief work. It is equally necessary to continuously convey flood information from Rasuwa to the lower coastal areas,” he said.

Heavy rainfall in the Budhi Gandaki watershed area including Arughat in the past nine hours has led to possibility of rise in the water level in the lower Trishuli River from Benighat of Dhading.

“The lake formed at the site of avalanche and the rivulets that flow into it are also filled and flowed away due to incessant rains, which has increased the risk of floods from time to time,” Upadhyay said.
