Kathmandu. Rescue efforts are underway to rescue people trapped in the tunnel of Trishuli-3 Hydropower Project due to flooded Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa.

According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information, a joint team of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been carrying out the search for the entrance of the tunnel using drilling machine, excavator and hydraulic cutters.

The security forces have been making continuous efforts in the area since August 28 to rescue the people trapped in the tunnel. The rescue operation was halted for some time last night due to rains in the area and flooding in the Bhotekoshi river.

The army has said that the rescue work has started after the flood level receded. The rescue team includes 93 people, including specialists.

The army has deployed more than 8,400 troops in the affected districts and is working in coordination. Meanwhile, the army has rescued 183 people, including four Chinese nationals, from Timure, Dhunche and Hakubensi areas till 11 am today.
