Landslide in China’s Sijang: 261 foreigners, including 104 Nepalis, unknown

The whereabouts of 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries are unknown after a landslide occurred on August 26 at the Gyirong border point on the China-Nepal border in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, local officials said Sunday.

The data was made public at a press conference organized by the Information Office of the Regional Government after a joint search and verification by the Foreign, Public Security, Culture and Tourism and Emergency Management Agencies.TAG_OPEN_div_11

Of them, 104 are from India, 33 from Latvia, 18 from the USA, 15 from the UK, six each from Canada and Australia, four from South Africa and three each from Malaysia, Germany and Russia.TAG_OPEN_div_9

Officials said two people each were from Ireland, Estonia, France, the Netherlands and New Zealand, and one each from Kazakhstan, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal, Ukraine, Spain and Hungary.TAG_OPEN_div_7
