Nawalpur. Twelve people of two wards of Madhyabindu Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) have gone missing due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi River on Wednesday. According to the municipality, 12 people of Madhyabindu Municipality Ward No. 1 and 5 and working at the under-construction Tenzin Sherpa Hydropower Building Building at Timure of Rasuwagadhi have gone missing since August 24.
According to Bhimlal Adhikari, mayor of Madhyabindu, although the search for the missing municipality residents is underway, they have not been able to contact them yet. He said that three residents of Madhyabindu-1 and nine of Madhyabindu-5 are still missing.
Mayor Adhikari said that the municipality has sought information from the relatives of the municipality saying that other citizens of the municipality might be missing. According to Adhikari, Hem Bahadur Chaudhary, Husan Bahadur Tharu and Kaliram Mahato Tharu of Madhyabindu-1 went missing. According to Adhikari, Jeevan BK, Gangaram Mukhiya, Bishal Mukhiya, Sitaram Mahato, Yuddha Mahato Umesh, Ekdev Mahato Bijay, Numnarayan Mahato, Kewal Prasad Mahato and Tej Bahadur Tharu of Madhyabindu-5 have gone missing.
Issuing a public notice, the municipality said that the information along with the photo of the missing person has been shared, adding that if the missing person comes in contact with anyone or is found, he should contact the secretariat number of Madhyabindu Municipality. 9847075932, 9857045190.
Similarly, federal lawmaker Manish Khanal said that 12 of our citizens who had reached Rasuwa from Madhyabindu-5, Baghkhor and Madhyabindu-1 in course of work due to floods in Bhotekoshi are still missing from Ghattekhola area.
According to him, the mayor, deputy mayor, former mayor and local people’s representatives along with the mayor of Madhyabindu municipality had met directly with the family members of the missing people and talked about the recent contact of the missing citizens.
Lawmaker Khanal said that special initiatives have been taken and coordinated with the concerned bodies, security agencies and local administration to make the search and rescue work at Ghattekhola area of Timure more effective.
