Ranjha. Two youths were killed in the devastating floods of Bhotkoshi in Rasuwa on August 26.

Mahesh Tharu, 28, and Kabirlal Tharu, 23, who were working in the hydropower project of Rasuwa in connection with employment, have disappeared and will never return. The entire settlement is shocked when these youths, who had dreamed of returning home in Dashain and sharing happiness with their families, have returned in a shattered state.

28-year-old Mahesh was the only son of the family. The entire financial burden of the house was on his shoulders. He used to work as a mechanic in Rasuwa and used to call home regularly to exchange updates. But after the floods on August 26, his phone was silent forever.

“We didn’t call him from the beginning, we reached Chitwan hoping to find him, but we found him dead,” Mahesh’s elderly father Bishram said. ”

According to his father Vishram, the deceased Mahesh had gone to Rasuwa on June 10, 2083 for employment. There he used to work in a power project with his friends in the village. He worked as a mechanic and took care of the entire financial burden of the family. Mahesh has two sons, aged eight and two, wife and elderly parents.

Kabir Lal, 23, of Kohalpur Loknagar, who had gone to Rasuwa in search of employment in the last week of April, had planned to return home in the coming Dashain. The flood on August 26 did not allow Kabirlal to wait for Dashain. His elder brother Sugrip Tharu said that while searching for his brother after the floods, the body was found at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan.

“There were hundreds of dead bodies at Bharatpur Hospital, our right leg was amputated and mutilated body was found during the search,” said Sugrip. ”

The bodies of Mahesh and Kabir Lal were cremated at the crematorium in Kohalpur as per religious traditions, said Purna Prasad Acharya, mayor of Kohalpur Municipality. According to him, the relatives of 11 people of Kohalpur are still missing. The municipality has decided to provide Rs 50,000 to the families of the residents of the municipality who lost their lives in the massive floods in Bhotekoshi.

The municipality has mobilized a team led by Birendra Shah, Chairman of Ward No. 12, Hari Singh Kathayatal, Ward Chairman of Ward No. 5, Ward Chairman Dipendra Shrestha, Ward No. 6 Chairman Shree Krishna Tharu, city police and family members of the disappeared people to coordinate the search and rescue of the missing people.

The municipality has also decided to take responsibility for the search, rescue, relief and management of dead bodies of the disaster victims. Mayor Acharya said that the people’s representatives and employees will deposit an amount equivalent to their remuneration for three to seven days in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund to assist in relief and rescue.
