Kathmandu. The search for an alternative route has been started after the conclusion that the road that collapsed at Krishnabhir in Dhading under the Prithvi Highway could not be reconstructed immediately.

The road continues to sink in the Krishnabhir area after the Trishuli River continued to erode the base of the road. So far, about 100 meters of the road has been broken and submerged and the foot traffic has also been stopped due to the increased risk.

Information Officer of Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project, Engineer Sachendra Mishra, said that the construction of the road was not possible immediately as the erosion of the river was still going on. According to him, a team of technicians and subject experts is studying the damage.TAG_OPEN_p_9

The study of alternative routes has been started after the possibility of resumption of the TAG_OPEN_p_8 road immediately was weak. The road via Benighat-Arughat-Gorkha and Galchi-Sunaulo Bazaar-Dhadingbeshi-Salyantar-Gorkha is being considered as an alternative. A study is also being done on the possibility of reaching the destination by using the road across the Prithvi Highway.

According to the road project, the road project is working on an alternative to allow vehicles coming from the eastern region to use the routes towards Makwanpur and those heading towards western and Pokhara via Gorkha.TAG_OPEN_p_7

About TAG_OPEN_p_6 14,000 vehicles ply daily on the Prithvi Highway, which is the main road connecting the capital Kathmandu to different parts of the country. Since this route is also used for the transportation of fuel, cooking gas, food and other essential goods, there is a concern that if the problem is prolonged, the supply system will be affected.

Technicians have concluded that the risk of Krishnabhir will continue until the erosion of the Trishuli river stops. Only after a detailed study, a final decision will be taken on the reconstruction of the road or a long-term solution.
