Second-tier leaders of different political parties were present in the meeting that started at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar.

According to RSP Spokesperson Jagadish Kharel, the main agenda of the meeting is to take forward the process of forming a parliamentary committee (high-level all-party mechanism) to advise and monitor the government’s activities, including post-disaster reconstruction, climate adaptation, timely improvement in the national disaster policy.

An all-party meeting held immediately after the floods and landslides in Bhotekoshi on August 26 had passed a 10-point common resolution regarding sustainable solution to the disaster and preparedness.

Point No. 10 of the common resolution states that disaster management, reconstruction and risk reduction should not be limited to short-term relief and response, but a long-term and long-term solution should be sought. Accordingly, it was agreed to form a high-level all-party mechanism.
