Salt Trading Eases Distribution of Cooking Gas

Kathmandu. Salt Trading Corporation Limited has started filling gas in its STC cylinders in collaboration with private gas companies to facilitate the supply of cooking gas.

After the Trishuli River erupted at Krishnabhir of Dhading last Sunday, the Trishuli River Corporation (PMC) has taken a policy to bring gas to Kathmandu by filling its STC cylinders at the gas plants of private gas companies.TAG_OPEN_div_73

As it was not possible to get gas bullets to its plant, the corporation immediately made arrangements to fill gas in its empty cylinders and bring it to the valley through alternative routes.

Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation Bajresh Jha said that the corporation has adopted this policy to avoid shortage of gas to the consumers in view of the situation of adverse natural disaster.TAG_OPEN_div_69

} He said, “In the first phase, by Friday, the gas cylinders filled in these two private plants will reach Kathmandu.” The corporation has also diverted some of the gas bullets left for its gas plants to these private companies.

Limited Quota : Agile Distribution System

When the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has given a low quota (PDO) permission to the corporation, it is not able to sell enough gas even if it wants to. The corporation has signed an agreement with the Indian Oil Corporation for a total of 3,025 gas bullets.

Out of this, only about TAG_OPEN_div_61 two percent i.e. 53 ‘Bullets’ belong to the corporation. The corporation is currently consuming 55,000 to 60,000 STC cylinders monthly.

Private sector gas companies have been facing problems due to the Gulf crisis, the recent blockade of the Prithvi Highway and other excuses. The corporation is currently facilitating the sale and distribution of gas through the coupon system. Assistant Chief Executive Officer Jha said, “We ensure the day of getting gas by distributing coupons to the consumers. ”

Iodized salt ‘stock’ up to six months {

‘Iodine’ is a micronutrient that the body needs on a daily basis. The government is urging the two children to eat the salt ‘eat less, eat it in the right amount’.

Consumerists have been raising their voice that salt should be kept within the policy of the government as it is an essential commodity and the private sector should not be allowed to enter its sale and distribution. They argue, “In difficult times, the private sector cannot provide easy supply of salt. The corporation has proved itself as a good organization in the role of public institutions in disasters and other difficult situations. ”

Market intervention in China

} On the other hand, the corporation has intervened in the market by making the sale and distribution of sugar that has been continuously rising in the international market in recent days.

The sugar corporation is selling up to 135 per kg from the private sector. According to the information given by the corporation, the corporation had brought 600 tons of sugar on August 24. The corporation has been selling sugar as per the government’s policy. In the last few days, the corporation has already sent three thousand tons to the market.

The prices of rice, lentils, legumes, oil and other commodities have been continuously increasing in the daily market, but the corporation has been able to maintain the price of food items that it sells.TAG_OPEN_div_41
