Kavrepalanchowk. Vehicular traffic has increased on the BP Highway after the flood a few days ago blocked the road at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway.
The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchowk has implemented a rotational system for traffic management after the traffic congestion on the highway increased. The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchowk has decided to allow cargo vehicles to operate only during the night.
A meeting of the district-based security committee has fixed the weight limit of cargo vehicles and allowed them to operate only at night. The weight limit has been set as it is difficult to operate vehicles weighing more than 10 tons on the highway. Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari said that necessary arrangements have been made in coordination with the Traffic Police and District Administration Office, Sindhuli.
He said that the time management has been made so that the goods vehicles going from Dhulikhel to Khurkot and from Khurkot to Dhulikhel do not cross on the road as far as possible. The Division Road Office, Bhaktapur will identify the narrow curves and obstructions that are at high risk of accidents and take up the improvement works as soon as possible. Heavy goods vehicles including gas bullets will be allowed to operate only in the presence of security personnel on the Dhulikhel-Bhakunde road section under the BP Highway.
Chief of the Division Road Office, Senior Divisional Engineer Suman Yogesh said that the road will be taken up immediately after identifying the narrow curves and obstructions that are high risk of accidents and correcting the works as soon as possible. “Dozers and other equipment have been kept ready at the risky places of the highway to facilitate the smooth passage of vehicles and prevent road blockage,” he said.
