Kathmandu. After the Rasuwagadhi border point was completely closed due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi, containers have started being diverted towards Korala border point. After the Rasuwagadhi border point was closed due to floods, the government has started using Korala border point as an alternative route to manage the transportation of goods imported from China.

With this, the number of containers diverted from Rasuwagadhi to Korala Naka via Mustang has intensified. According to the Armed Police Force, 262 containers had already left for Korala Naka till Thursday morning. More than 100 containers have moved towards Korala Naka on Friday. A long queue of cargo vehicles has been seen in the Jomsom checkpost area after a large number of containers were sent to Korala at once.

Due to the containers stopped at the Jomsom checkpost, the traffic pressure on the road from Mustang to Koralanaka has also increased. The closure of the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint has directly affected the supply system of various goods imported from China.

Clothes, footwear, electronics and other consumer goods coming from China are entering Nepal in large quantities, especially when the major festivals of Nepal are approaching.

Entrepreneurs are worried that the supply and market management of such goods may be affected if the Rasuwagadhi border point remains closed for long.

The floods in the Bhotekoshi river have caused a lot of damage in the Rasuwa area. The floods have damaged roads and infrastructure, and hundreds of cargo vehicles have also been affected.

As the Rasuwagadhi border point could not come into operation immediately, the Koralana route has been used as an alternative. This has opened the way for the goods stopped or diverted at the Rasuwagadhi border point to enter Nepal through another route.
