Kathmandu. So far, 1,294 bodies have been recovered after the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district on August 26.

Security agencies have intensified search and rescue of the missing people following the huge loss of life and property due to the floods. According to the data released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority this evening, 140 dead bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 184 in Nuwakot, 67 in Dhading, 73 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 221 in Nawalparasi East and 212 in Nawalparasi West. Apart from this, 359 human organs have also been recovered from different places.

According to the latest data provided by the District Administration Office, 2,130, 2,340 from Nuwakot and 583 foreign nationals have gone out of contact with them.

The NRA has said that the search and rescue operation has been made more effective as the number of missing people is high. So far, 13,095 people have been rescued from the rescue operation conducted in the flood-affected areas. Of them, the Nepal Army has rescued 4,157 people, Nepal Police 4,068 and the Armed Police Force has rescued 4,870 people.

Similarly, 96 bodies have been identified and handed over to their relatives so far, according to the NRA. Spokesperson Mahat said that 5,663 people have been treated for the floods so far.

A total of 314 people have received medical treatment from various hospitals, 3,266 from the Nepal Army and 2,083 from the Armed Police Force. A total of 4,627 people are taking shelter in 37 holding centers set up in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading for the flood-affected people. The state agencies are carrying out relief and management works to meet the basic needs of the displaced and affected people by keeping them in safe places.

Security agencies, local levels and various government and non-governmental organizations are continuously active in search, rescue, treatment and relief management after the flood in the Bhotekoshi River caused huge loss of life and property at once. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has intensified the search and rescue of those who have gone missing.
