Flood in Therang River damages four houses and bridges in Chumnubri

Gorkha. The flood of the Therang River flowing through Chumnubri Rural Municipality-4 and 2 in the Himalayan region of the district has swept away four houses and a bridge.

According to the District Police Office, the floods this morning swept away the houses of Namrungkanurbu Ongyal (Nurbu Tshering), Urgen Chhyoden, Lakpa Bhuti and Dorje Gyaljen in Chumnubri-4.TAG_OPEN_div_10

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar Shrestha said that no human casualties were reported due to the flood. He said that the locals ran away to save their lives after knowing about the flood. The flood also swept away a suspension bridge at the same place, the office said.TAG_OPEN_div_8

Nima Lama, chairperson of Chumnubri Rural Municipality, said that the locals can take some measures to make it possible to walk in the short term. As the river merges with Budhigandaki, the residents of the coastal areas of Budhigandaki have been urged to be alert.
