Khotang. Explosives have been found at the base camp of Diktel Bazaar, the main commercial hub.
Locals found the explosives while digging the ground for the construction of futsal ground at the base camp this evening.
Colonel Pawan Karki, commander in chief of the Ranabhim Battalion, Mude Barracks, said that preparations were being made to defuse the explosives found by the locals only on Monday morning. During the conflict, there was a camp of security forces at the place. Chief District Officer Rekha Kandel said that it is suspected that the security forces might have planted the explosives at the same time.
Locals have been urged not to go to the surrounding areas and take precautions as there is no time to defuse the explosives found in the unclaimed state. Explosives have been found in the vicinity of the base camp from time to time in the past.
During the armed conflict, a joint force of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force was stationed at the base camp. After the base camp was shifted to another place, the locals found explosives while working in the fields.
