Bhojpur. With the expansion of road network and transport access to rural areas, goats reared in remote villages of Bhojpur have started getting easy market and fair prices.

With the ease of transportation, it has also become easier for the farmers to sell locally produced goats to big cities. This has also improved economic earnings.

Earlier, goats used to be sold only during big festivals like Dashain and Tihar. Farmers had to take their goats to the local markets to sell their goats and they were not able to get the expected price. Now, with the expansion of the road network, the goats of the village have started reaching big cities like Kathmandu, Dharan, Itahari and Biratnagar.

At present, live goats are being easily sold at Rs 500 to Rs 600 per kg in the village. After getting good prices, the attraction of farmers to goat farming has also increased in the district.

According to Ganesh Bista, a local trader who collects goats from the village and sends them to Kathmandu, around 200 goats are being sent to Kathmandu every month. He said that the fare of 800 to 1,500 rupees per person is charged for transporting the goats collected from the village to Kathmandu by the youths.

Harkaraj Luitel, a local of Temkemaiung-5, said that the sale of goats has become very easy after the sale of goats from the courtyard. He said that there is no possibility of being cheated as it is sold on scales at home. He said that it is easier to avoid the need when he is in need of money.

“Due to the transportation facility, the goats reared in the villages have now started going to big cities including Kathmandu,” he said, adding, “In the past, we had to bear losses as we had to sell them on the basis of estimates. Now the traders themselves are searching for the barns. It has become very easy to sell them at a good price from the barn.” ”

Ramesh Bista, another local farmer, also said that goats are being sold at the expected price from their homes. “In the past, goats used to be sold, but it was not easy,” he said, adding, “There was no situation to sell them immediately. But now there is no problem for sale.” With the expansion of access to the market due to road facilities, goat farming has become a reliable and reliable source of income for farmers in remote villages.
