Rasuwa floods: 1,355 bodies recovered, 4,996 missing

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has said that 1,355 bodies have been recovered so far among the people who lost their lives in the Rasuwa floods.

According to the NRA, various human organs are also included in the bodies found. So far, 98 bodies have been identified and handed over to their relatives, according to the NRA.TAG_OPEN_div_22

NRA Spokesperson Shanti Mahat said that 169 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 197 in Nuwakot, 70 in Dhading, 75 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 363 in Chitwan, 222 in Nawalparasi East and 221 in Nawalparasi West. She said, “There are reports that around 4,996 people are out of contact due to the floods. The details of about 1,967 Nepalis who are out of contact from Rasuwa District Administration Office and about 2,340 Nepalis from Nuwakot have been updated.TAG_OPEN_div_20 ”

According to him, about TAG_OPEN_div_18 100 security personnel and employees and about 589 foreign nationals are out of contact. Meanwhile, 13,396 people have been rescued so far.

According to the authority, 6,672 injured people have been treated. Of them, 323 were treated at various hospitals and 228 have returned after treatment.TAG_OPEN_div_16

TAG_OPEN_div_14 Currently, 3,533 people are affected by the floods in 39 holding centers set up in the affected areas. Of them, 669 are in Rasuwa, 2,651 in Nuwakot and 213 in Dhading, according to the NRA.

According to the NRA, 21,402 security personnel have been mobilized for rescue, relief and security management. A total of 9,287 security personnel from the Nepal Army, 7,912 from the Nepal Police and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force have been mobilized for search, rescue and relief in the flood-affected areas.TAG_OPEN_div_12
