Kathmandu. DishHome has taken a special initiative to continue communication and information exchange in the affected areas after the massive floods in the Bhotekoshi River caused major damage to the telecommunication and internet infrastructure in various areas of Rasuwa.

With the approval and coordination of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, DishHome, in collaboration with Eutelsat OneWeb, has launched free OneWeb satellite internet service in the most affected areas of the floods. The company has said that this service will be available on a priority basis from September 20.

As reliable communication service is essential for rescue, relief and coordination during the time of natural disasters, free satellite internet services are being provided to the government offices, security bodies, rescue and relief camps and important coordination centers in the affected areas.

This alternative connectivity provided through Eutelsat OneWeb’s Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology will serve as an alternative to terrestrial telecommunications and internet infrastructure damaged by the floods. DishHome believes that this will help in information sharing, real-time coordination and continuous data flow between government agencies, security agencies, local administrations, rescue workers, and various stakeholders involved in humanitarian and relief work.
