Jeep accident update: Deceased identified, injured rescued by helicopter

Rukum West. The identities of two persons who died in an accident that took place near Deutakhola of Sanibheri Rural Municipality-6 in Rukum West this morning have been identified.

The deceased have been identified as jeep driver Sundar Khadka Magar of Triveni Rural Municipality-1 and Prem Kala Pun, 16, of Sanibheri Rural Municipality-6, according to the District Police Office. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Bed Bahadur Poudel said that the two critically injured have been sent to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet by Nepal Army helicopter. According to him, a helicopter is on the way to bring two more injured.

Others are undergoing treatment at Sanibheri Rural Municipality Hospital, Simli. “During the investigation, it has been found that 13 people including the driver were travelling in the jeep. Earlier, information was received that 11 people were travelling in the jeep. Earlier, information was received that 11 people were on board the jeep, but after inquiring with the concerned authorities, we came to know that the number of passengers is 13,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police. According to him, the identity of all the passengers in the jeep is yet to be ascertained.

The jeep (Lu 1 Cha 6029) coming from Kotgaun of Sanibheri Rural Municipality-6 to Simli of Sanibheri met with an accident at Deuta River. According to the District Police Office, the jeep fell 50 meters down from the road.
