Rasuwa. A 25-member data assessment committee has been formed in the district to collect details of the damage caused by the floods.

The committee has been formed under the convenorship of District Coordination Officer Rajendra Prasad Acharya. A meeting of the Disaster Management Committee held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Disaster Management Committee Coordinator and Chief District Officer Kamal Prasad Pandey has given a mandate to the newly formed evaluation committee to collect details of the initial damage caused by the floods within a month.

The committee has representatives of 25 government and non-governmental organizations including Galchhi-Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi Road Improvement Project, Urban Development and Building Construction Project, Rasuwa Customs Office, Security Agencies, Survey Office, Land Administration, Hydropower Project, Nepal Intermodal and other major members. Assistant Chief District Officer Druva Prasad Adhikari is the member secretary of the committee.

The meeting also decided to use the vacant building of the Rasuwa Soil Conservation Office for the regular operation of the rural municipality after the floods swept away the building of Gosainkunda rural municipality in Syaphrubesi.

Similarly, the District Administration Office has decided to forward the process for the construction of a building within the community forest area above Betrawati for the reconstruction of the building of Uttargaya rural municipality which was swept away by the flooded Khalte in Betrawati.

The meeting also decided to facilitate the District Administration Office if it receives written request for permission to operate Rasuwa flights as demanded by the concerned organizations or individuals if helicopters of private companies are to be used for rescue and other disaster-related works in flood-affected areas.

The floods had caused human and physical damage in various places of Rasuwa. The data collection committee will work to collect the exact details of the damage and initiate necessary procedures for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Similarly, the civil society in Rasuwa has urged the authorities concerned to install bailey bridges at flood-ravaged Rasuwa and Nuwakot borders, Falakhu rivulet of Betrawati, Bhotekoshi and Ronga of Syafrubesi at the earliest and connect them with the road and footpath network.
