KATHMANDU: More than 1,500 driver partners have successfully completed the ‘Safe Driving Online Course’ conducted in Nepal by global mobility and delivery platform InDrive.
The training, which was conducted with an aim to raise awareness among the driver partners on road safety, professional conduct, and safety measures to be taken in case of an emergency, was a significant achievement.
The online course, which can be easily completed via mobile, provides the driver partner with the practical information they need to operate the vehicle safely, maintain professional behavior with passengers, and effectively handle various situations that may arise during the journey. So far, more than 1,500 driver partners have completed the course and received digital certificates from InDrive.
Designed to be completed in around 20 minutes, the course covers topics like on-platform safety and business limitations, basic knowledge of road safety for ride-hailing services and emergency situations, reporting and use of AOS facility.
Sunita Jimmy Rai, Senior Driver Operations Specialist, InDrive Nepal, said, “It is a significant achievement for us that more than 1,500 driver partners have completed the course and received the certificate. Drivers spend a lot of time on the road and face different situations every day. Therefore, it is very important to provide them with safety information that is useful in practice. Through this course, we want to make our driver partners more confident, aware and prepared while providing service. Along with the topics to pay attention to while using the app, the course also provides essential information on how to do your daily work completely safely and cautiously. ”
Manjita Gurung, Communications Manager, InDrive Nepal, said, “The course has been designed in a simple, concise and easy to understand manner so that the driver partner does not have to take too much time away from their regular work. The feedback we have received has shown that practical and easy-to-understand safety training can have a positive impact on the daily working style of drivers. ”
Vishal Pakhrin, a motorcycle driver partner of InDrive, who completed the course, said, “I spend most of my day riding a motorcycle on the road. This course once again reminded me of the importance of safety matters that are considered normal in the course of daily work. I found the information especially useful on road safety, emergencies, and AOS facilities. I was able to get more clear information about what to do in case of a sudden problem. ”
Similarly, Kamal Ghimire, cab driver partner of InDrive, said, “This course helped us understand that safe driving is not just about driving carefully. It was equally important to learn how to communicate with passengers, maintain professional behaviour and handle various situations that may arise during the journey. The training was simple, useful and directly related to our daily work. ”
The three main modules of the Safe Driving Online Course
Course A – On-Platform Security and Professional Limitations
This module focuses on how to maintain safe, respectful and professional behavior with passengers while providing services through the platform. It also includes identifying and maintaining the necessary business boundaries while travelling.
Course B – Basic Knowledge of Road Safety for Ride-Hailing
Designed for real-time riding services, the module contains information on safe driving exercises, high traffic and unfamiliar terrains, and daily road safety practices.
Course C – Emergencies, Reporting and the Use of SOS
This module aims to help driver partners respond calmly, safely and effectively to emergencies. This includes how to use the SOS feature available in the Indrive app and how to report an incident through appropriate means.
