Impacts of climate change: Secretary-General Terrace stresses on climate justice and adequate financing for developing countries

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stressed the need for climate justice and adequate financial support for developing countries along with emissions cuts to stop warming at the last climate summit of his term.

He accused the fossil fuel industry of treating the environment like an “open drain” and called for immediate and effective action to address the climate crisis.

Guterres is scheduled to address a high-level event at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday, along with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Turkey and Australia are co-hosting the COP31 climate conference in November.TAG_OPEN_div_25
