Small and cottage industries are government’s priority: Finance Minister Dr Wagle

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, who is also the Prime Minister, has said that the micro, cottage and small industries sector is in the priority of the government.

During a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI), Minister Dr Wagle said that the development of micro, cottage and small industries was essential for the economic development of the country and the government would provide all possible support for the same. On the occasion, the FNCCI demanded policy reforms for the development of micro, cottage and small industries and suggested declaring the next 10 years as the ‘decade for development of micro, cottage and small industries’, providing concessional and collateral-free loans and providing tax concessions to new industries.TAG_OPEN_div_19

Likewise, the FNCCI has demanded prioritization of at least TAG_OPEN_div_17 30 per cent domestic MSME production in public procurement, ‘Made in Nepal’ campaign, export facilitation and government subsidies for the import of modern technology, said FNCCI Chairperson Shova Gurung.

According to him, the federation has also proposed to implement a special entrepreneurship package for women and youths who have returned from foreign employment, ‘100 startup-100 investors’ program and ‘fast-track industrial service’ to make government services related to industry more efficient. The federation has said that a self-reliant economy can be built by increasing production, employment and exports through collaboration between the government, private sector and stakeholders.TAG_OPEN_div_15

Federation’s assistance to flood victims

On the occasion, the federation has provided Rs 5,TAG_OPEN_div_11 55,555 for the relief of the flood-affected families. The assistance amount was handed over to Acting Prime Minister and Finance Minister Dr. Wagle by Chairman Gurung. The assistance amount has been deposited in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
