Kathmandu. Lawmaker Tika Sangraula has demanded an investigation into the incident of the customs officer using threatening language against the APF officer.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmaker Sangraula informed the House of Representatives about an audio tape recently made public and demanded action against the concerned customs officer.

According to him, the customs officer of Kanchanpur has used very low-level and threatening language regarding the arrest of the Superintendent of the Armed Police Force of Kailali in the matter of impounding the customs vehicle. She said that the employees had made threatening statements to their own departmental director-general, the Inspector General of Armed Police Force and even the Home Minister.

“Do you mean that I will hit you? Do you mean that I will hit you? Do you mean that I will hit you by meeting people? Or do you mean that I will take your position?” asked MP Sangraula.

She said that if a customs officer has the ability to ‘hit’ even the Home Minister, serious questions will be raised about the status of the state agencies and the extent of their authority.

“It is a serious matter that the customs officers working within their responsibility and jurisdiction in course of controlling revenue leakage are subjected to irresponsible and threatening language by the customs officers at the bordering areas,” he said.

Lawmaker Sangraula drew the attention of the government to investigate the facts of the statement heard in the audio clip and take necessary action against the employees if found guilty.
