Landslide obstructs BP Highway

Kavrepalanchowk. The BP Highway has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by incessant rains. According to the District Police Office, the road was obstructed at 4.30 am today after landslides occurred at Charsaibesi and Roshi-8 Gimdi of Roshi rural municipality-7 along the BP Highway.

Meanwhile, the Kavrepalanchowk road section along the BP Highway has been closed during the night from Thursday in view of the projection of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.TAG_OPEN_div_24

The District Administration Office (DAO) has said that the traffic can be closed during the day as well considering the situation of floods and landslides, but the vehicular movement has been banned at night till Sunday.TAG_OPEN_div_22

Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari informed that the vehicular movement along the Kavrepalanchowk section of the BP Highway will be prohibited from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am from September 22.TAG_OPEN_div_20

The District Police Office (DPO) has stated that it will take necessary decision if there is a need to ban vehicular movement even during the day after assessing the situation of rain, flood and landslide.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The meeting also decided to make the people living on the banks of the river and the settlements at risk of landslides aware of the risk of possible floods and landslides, to continuously disseminate information about the risks and to disseminate information through the local media.
