Korala road completely blocked, hundreds of containers stranded at customs yard

Mustang. The Jomsom-Korala road section has been completely obstructed due to incessant rain and snowfall since Saturday night. The road from Kavrebhir to Korala border of Myagdi and Mustang has been obstructed due to landslides at several places and heavy snowfall at Korala Pass area of Upper Mustang.

Hundreds of containers have been stranded at the customs yard due to the closure of the alternative Korala border point due to the complete obstruction of the Korala road due to rain. According to the District Police Office, Mustang, the road from Kavrebhir to Korala border point of Mustang has been completely blocked due to heavy rain and snowfall last night.

According to Santosh Basyal, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, the road has been obstructed due to landslides and falling of big boulders along the Kavrebhir section of the Myagdi-Mustang border. He said that the road has been obstructed due to landslides at some places in Ghansa area of Thasang Rural Municipality-4 of Mustang due to heavy rains. Similarly, the road was blocked due to flooding in the Faram River near the apple farm of the Temperate Horticulture Development Center at Marpha of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality-2, said Mohan Singh Lalchan, chairman of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality.
