Humla. As many as 41 Nepalis have been stranded at Hilsa on the northern border of Humla due to heavy snowfall. Immigration Officer Bimal Poudel said that they were stranded at Hilsa after the Hilsa-Taklakot movement was disrupted.
According to him, the stranded people are residents of Namkha Rural Municipality-1, 2 and 3. Most of them have been doing business in Taklakot. He said that they reached Hilsa last Friday and were stopped at the border point after snowfall.
Due to the snowfall, the Chinese side has stopped the movement of people to visit Kailash Mansarovar. According to Pema Lama, an immigration worker working in Hilsa, the border point will be opened from October 4.
Challenge to open the way to Hilsa
Although the road on the Chinese side is being opened, it will take some more time on the Nepali side. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Nanda Bahadur Saud of the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 44 Company in Humla, around two to two and a half feet of snow has accumulated in Hilsa.
He said that it will take more time to clear the accumulated snow as one has to cross Nara Lake to reach Hilsa. He said that there is a problem in opening the road as there is only one excavator in Hilsa and there is a problem of fuel. Locals and security personnel are trying to clear the snow and bring the road into operation.
