Kathmandu. It has been claimed that the data of 3,73,056 users of ‘Hamro Calendar/Hamro Pay’ has been stolen.
It is claimed that the stolen database was put up for sale on a dark web forum for $5,000.
The hacker is said to have leaked some details in the JSON file format as a sample of the database on sale. It is claimed that the leaked sample contains personal details related to the user.
In the post of data sales, the hacker also mentions his Telegram ID and email address. The post also claims that a ‘middleman service’ is available to prevent fraud during the transaction.
However, it is yet to be independently verified whether the data was actually stolen from ‘Our Calendar/Our Pay’. Official technical confirmation is also required as to whether the sample made public matches the data of the actual user.
If the claim of data theft is true, it can put the personal data of a large number of users at risk. In such a situation, the concerned service provider should immediately investigate the incident and give clear information about whether the user’s data is safe or at risk.
