636 police personnel deployed in Makawanpur for festival security

Kathmandu. The District Police Office, Makawanpur has mobilized 636 police personnel in the district targeting the upcoming festivals of Bada Dashain, Deepawali, Nepal Sambat and Chhath. A special security plan has been implemented to control criminal activities during the festivals, safety of passengers and to manage the increasing number of vehicles on the highway.

Spokesperson of the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle said that a security team has been mobilized under the leadership of the District Police Chief with a command post. According to him, special priority has been given to highway security in view of the increase in the number of vehicles traveling to Kathmandu via Hetauda due to the obstruction of roads in Dhading and Sindhuli due to floods and landslides.

Passenger help desks have been set up at five places in the district for the convenience of passengers. Spokesperson Kafle said that these desks will be used to control the tendency to charge high fare, manage transport and solve the problems faced by women, children and senior citizens while travelling.

Arrangements have been made for emergency checks, regular check posts and joint checks with traffic police on highways and main road sections. He said that drivers driving negligent vehicles will be taken under control and action will be taken as per the law.

As part of the security plan, 10 mobile patrolling teams have been deployed in different parts of the district. Rapid Response Teams (QRTs), picket teams and foot patrols have also been arranged with motorcycles to reach the places where police assistance is needed immediately.

Police have also been deployed in plain clothes to control the activities like crowding, theft, robbery and gambling in the market area during the festival. Spokesperson Kafle said that vigilance has been increased to prevent possible theft and robbery as financial transactions are increasing especially in banks and financial institutions.

According to him, arrangements have been made to monitor the market in coordination with the District Administration Office to control artificial scarcity, black marketing and unnatural price hike during the festivals. Police have also been deployed for the security of religious and tourist places, government offices and VIPs in the provincial capital.

A police team has been put on standby to provide immediate rescue and assistance in case of road accidents and other emergencies. Two reserve teams have been arranged for additional deployment in case of shortage of manpower in case of any incident. He said that a striking team will also be deployed for the management of road blockades and emergency incidents.

Priority has been given to security checks at the main entry and exit points of Ratmate, Bhaise, Manahari and other districts and the road section connecting Sindhuli and Kathmandu. Spokesperson Kafle said that regular monitoring has been arranged through the Area Police Office and Police Post.
