Gulmi. The air service of Resunga Airport has resumed from today. The airport was affected for about four months due to adverse weather.

Suman Thapa, station chief of Resunga Airport in Gulmi, said that flights have been disrupted in the district since the third week of May. He said that the flight operation could be affected due to bad weather, thick fog and air pressure.

The plane had landed in Gulmi on Tuesday carrying 13 passengers and returned to Kathmandu from Gulmi carrying two passengers.

The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has set a new schedule to operate flights three days a week as the weather is favourable. The elderly, sick and passengers who have to travel to the capital Kathmandu for essential work were facing more problems due to the disruption of air service for a long time.

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has been operating flights from Kathmandu-Gulmi and Gulmi-Kathmandu by its 18-seater twin-otter aircraft at Resunga airport.

The NAC has also changed the flight schedule from today. As per the schedule, Sunday and Tuesday from Kathmandu to Resunga at 7:15 am, from Resunga to Kathmandu at 8:15 am, from Kathmandu to Resunga at 6:20 am and from Resunga to Kathmandu at 7:20 am on Friday.

The airfare from Kathmandu to Gulmi has been fixed at Rs 10,710 and Rs 10,510 from Gulmi.

With the start of air service in Gulmi, the movement of domestic and foreign tourists has also eased. It takes 12 to 16 hours to reach the capital by road. The air service has made it easier for the people of this area to travel to Kathmandu in 45 to 50 minutes.

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) had started commercial air service in Gulmi on May 12, 2080.

The increase in the price of fuel, upgradation of road infrastructure and easy availability of comfortable public transport have contributed to the decrease in the number of passengers travelling from Resunga Airport.
