More than 25,000 EVs entered from Korala border point stranded at no-man’s land and customs yard

Mustang. More than 2500 electric vehicles (EVs) have entered Nepal from Korala border point in two weeks since the road was blocked due to floods, landslides, and river erosion due to heavy rains on September 26. In this way, electric vehicles coming from Korala checkpoint have been kept in Mustang as they could not reach their destinations.

Although the road has been reopened since Friday evening, the electric vehicles entering Nepal from Korala border point have not yet been able to leave for their destinations. Stating that the road is not completely smooth, the concerned representatives have stopped at Mustang as they could not reach the destination.

According to the Armed Police Force Border Outpost at Lomanthang-4, Nhechung, Nepal-China North Korlana checkpoint, more than 2,000 electric vehicles are parked at the open plateau at Korala border and Mustang customs yard at Nhechung. According to APF Inspector Prakash Dhital who is in-charge of the BOP at Korala, more than 2,000 electric vehicles of various companies are parked in the no-man’s land area of Korala border and more than 200 electric vehicles are parked at the customs yard. “After passing the customs clearance in the Korlana area, the local drivers bring the electric vehicles to the customs office, after which the drivers of the company drop off the electric vehicles,” said Inspector Dhital. ”

Similarly, more than 500 electric vehicles that were brought to Jomsom after clearing customs from Korlana have been managed at two parking lots in Jomsom. Deepak Budhathoki, a representative of Simon Inc., the buyer of Biwadi Company, said that more than 2000 vehicles of different models of BYD Company have been stranded in Mustang since the road was blocked due to heavy rains.

He said that he had come to release the electric vehicles coming from Korala Naka from the company to the destination, so it was still difficult to send the small vehicles to the destination. He said that the vehicles entered were parked at the Jomsom Bus Park and the parking lot of the customs office at Jomsom.

He said that about 450 vehicles of BYD Company were sent to the destination before September 27, but it was difficult to send the vehicles coming to the destination due to the difficulty of Beni-Jomsom road. He said that Cimex Inc is planning to bring about 3,000 more electric vehicles from Korala checkpoint after the closure of Rasuwa and Tatopani border points.

According to Police Inspector and Information Officer Santosh Basyal, more than 600 containers carrying goods imported from Korala border point have already left for their destinations from the district as of Monday. He said that some empty containers have been climbed up to transport goods to the Korala border point after the containers stopped in the district were released.
