Bhojpur. Bada Dashain, the great festival of Nepalis, has added excitement to the villages of Bhojpur.

The number of people shopping for the Dashain festival has increased in the main markets of Bhojpur. The number of customers has increased in the shops selling foodstuffs, clothes, footwear, fruits and worship items. Business activities related to the festival have increased in the district headquarters Bhojpur Bazaar, Dingla, Ghodetar and Pauli among other markets.

Dashain also helps in the marketing of local agricultural products. Dev Bahadur Bista, a local farmer of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-5, said that the increase in demand for goats, chickens, vegetables and fruits produced in the villages will give farmers an opportunity to sell their produce. He said that the increase in demand for local products during the festival period will help in the income of the farmers.

On the occasion of Dashain, there is a tradition of worshiping at various Shaktipeeths and religious places in the district. In recent times, with the increase in the number of youths going out of the village for employment and studies, the style of celebrating traditional festivals has started changing.

Although some of the original customs have been weakened due to the influence of modern lifestyle, Dashain has been providing an opportunity to transfer culture, rites and traditions from the old generation to the new generation. Dashain, which is associated with meeting with family, continuity of local traditions and social harmony, has added intimacy and enthusiasm to the villages of Bhojpur.
