Rasuwa Bhotekoshi floods: Insurance companies pay Rs 82.13 crore claim

The insurance claim payment of physical infrastructure, vehicles and other property damaged due to the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers of Rasuwa on August 26 has reached Rs 82 crore 13 lakh 90 thousand. The insurance company has made this payment along with advance claim payment.

The initial claim for the floods was Rs 20.90 billion, but so far the insurance companies have paid the same amount. According to the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, 2,491 claims have been received for the damage caused by the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli floods.

According to the authority, the highest claim amount has been received by Himalayan Everest Insurance. Himalayan Everest Insurance has received claims of Rs 6.61 billion from 209 insured. The company has already paid Rs 23.23 crore out of the claims.TAG_OPEN_div_24

Similarly, Sanima GIC Insurance has received claims of Rs 3.43 billion from 192 insured. According to the authority, the company has paid Rs 76 lakh out of the claimed. According to the authority, Shikhar Insurance has received claims of Rs 2.63 billion from 459 insured. The company has already paid Rs 21.47 crore.TAG_OPEN_div_22

Similarly, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has paid the highest amount of Rs 26.63 crore out of a claim of Rs 1.75 billion. Siddhartha Premier Insurance has paid Rs 80 lakh, Neco Insurance Rs 57 lakh, IGI Prudential Insurance Rs 1.63 crore, United Ajod Insurance Rs 2.54 crore and The Oriental Insurance Rs 4.36 crore.TAG_OPEN_div_20

Based on the type of insurance policy, 576 insured persons have received claims of Rs 9.56 billion under property insurance and Rs 16.28 crore have been paid. In engineering and contract risk insurance, 174 insureds have received claims of Rs 4.40 billion and paid Rs 17.40 crore.

} The highest number of 1,067 insured claims have been made towards motor insurance. Out of the total amount of Rs 2.84 billion, Rs 23.66 crore has been paid. Similarly, Rs 2,33,55,000 has been claimed for transport insurance, out of which Rs 23.89 crore has been paid.
