KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has annulled the transfer of 857 employees of various levels made by the Survey Department on October 7.

The employees themselves had lodged a complaint at the Ministry and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, alleging that the employees working in the remote areas were being reposted to the remote areas and the demands and complaints of the employees working in remote areas were ignored.

After receiving serious attention to the applications and complaints received, the Survey Department had formally called for a 7-day deadline on October 10 as per the instructions of the ministry. After receiving complaints from more than 200 employees for transfer review, the ministry decided to completely cancel the transfer list.

Following the cancellation of the transfer decision, the department has approved and issued the ‘Employee Transfer Standard, 2083’ today itself under the direct direction of the ministry. The ministry has given clear instructions to the department to proceed with the transfer process only in a transparent and equitable manner based on the same criteria. The ministry has taken this step with the aim of maintaining good governance in the civil service by making the transfer system systematic, predictable and based on criteria.
