KATHMANDU: An Integrated Maternity Health Promotion Health Camp was held at the Urban Health Promotion Center in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19 with the objective of increasing access to health awareness, expert counseling and safe motherhood services during pregnancy. About 50 people participated in the camp organized by Ama Suraksha Nepal in collaboration with Neco Insurance Limited.

The camp was attended by 15 pregnant women, their family members and women health volunteers. The participants were provided with information and counseling on health precautions, nutrition, mental health, safe physical activity and risk signs of pregnancy.

In the program, Ms. Nikita Sangraula conducted sessions on pregnancy yoga and physical health and explained the importance of yoga and physical exercises that can be done safely during pregnancy and the support of the family. Similarly, Dr. Sushma Dhakal conducted a technical session on maternal mental health, nutrition and risk signs of pregnancy. He emphasized on the need to identify the unusual symptoms during pregnancy on time and seek necessary services from the health institutions.

The pregnant women who participated in the camp received personal health counselling and foetal heartbeat testing services from a gynaecologist. They were also given maternity kits and maternity identification badges with necessary materials during pregnancy.

The role of the family in the health and safe motherhood of pregnant women was also highlighted in the program. The participants were informed about the need for the husband and family members to provide emotional and practical support during pregnancy and facilitate them to get the necessary health services.

Neco Insurance Limited has been prioritizing health and community-focused programs as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. This collaboration focused on maternal health is expected to increase health awareness among pregnant women and their families and encourage them to seek essential health services on time.
