Tanahun. The daily routine of women who are busy only in household chores, fairs and taking care of children has changed. There has been a change in the lifestyle of women who are busy with domestic work. The women of Chitikhola of Bhanu Municipality-9 are now engaged in earning income with lifestyle changes.
They have now changed after welcoming guests with regular work. Greenhill Village, established in 2076 BS, has changed the work along with the household after the operation of the community homestay. Most of the women here are associated with income generation through home stay. Not only the lifestyle of women, but also the identity of the village has changed after every house here has been decorated and turned into a home.
Sushila Pulami, secretary of the Greenhill Village Homestay Management Committee, said, “There has been a change in the lifestyle of the women here and the work of leaving the family and migrating with children has stopped. He said that staying at home is linked to income by staying with his family. Pulami said, “So far, we have not come to know that the women here have gone elsewhere for studies with their children. ’
The women here did not think that they could attract tourists through the food produced by themselves. She said, “We had not even imagined that tourists would come to the village in the past, but we are now busy welcoming guests with those works, which were limited to farm and household work.” After the operation of the homestay, not only our daily routine, but the identity of the village has changed. ’
According to Pulami, the nature of the village has changed six years ago and now. She said, “We do not even know what a homestay is, but it has now taught us to be financially strong. Around 42 people are accommodated at one time in the 21 houses in Chitikhola. The homemakers feed the guests locally produced food.
Member Sita Saru said that training has been taken in capacity development, hospitality, making various food items for the operation of the house and it has become easier. “We feed the guests local products, organic, pesticide-free and indigenous food available in the villages. Earlier, this product used to be distributed among relatives and neighbors, but now this product has become a source of income,” she said.
Similarly, Chairperson of homestay management committee Dhana Kumari Saru Magar said that after the operation of homestay in the village, the lifestyle of local women has changed a lot and they are becoming financially strong. “After the operation of the homestay, not only economically, but also the women here have been promoted in self-reliant and leadership roles,” he said, adding, “There was no need to migrate from here after increasing the income level by utilizing the food items produced in the village.” He said that the women here did not get the idea of going elsewhere after earning here.
“The Greenhill Village homestay has given guests the opportunity to live in a peaceful and natural environment, as well as made the women aware of their economic self-reliance,” magar said. This has given us more energy, so we have been serving the homestay in a way that makes us feel more original and unique. ’
Domestic and foreign tourists come to the homestay. So far, around 2,500 tourists have been welcomed, said Geeta Adhikari Pandey, founder member of Gharbas. “Guests return after being influenced by the lifestyle, food and local culture of the village,” he said.
Shrestha Subedi, a student of CMC, who stayed at home for a night, said that the hospitality here would give a sense of belonging. “It’s fascinating by the cool air and beautiful scenery. We found most of the food here to be organic,” she said. ’
Necessary infrastructure is also being added here with the aim of making the operation of the house easier. Members of the board of directors take turns to visit the village and surrounding tourist destinations and perform traditional dances to the guests. The village is also becoming clean and tidy after the arrival of guests in the village. Guests coming here can also observe agriculture, listen to the sounds of various birds in the forest, enjoy the beautiful clean climate, hike to Chowkkot, Gadhimai, Chandra Waterfall, Shiva temple and tea garden.
