IPPAN to hold power summit in September, national and international experts to participate

Kathmandu. Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) is organizing power summit 2025. The Power Summit is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on September 1and 2. The theme of the summit is 28,500 MW Powering Nepal Energizing Region.

Realizing that it is the responsibility and responsibility of the private sector to achieve the government’s target of generating 28,500 MW of electricity by 2035, in the 114-year history of Nepal’s energy generation, the Government’s Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and the Indian Embassy in Nepal have been involved in domestic partnership as well as various national and international organizations. The summit is being organized in a big way with the participation of agencies and companies.

The summit will be attended by the Prime Minister and eminent personalities and experts from different countries. Nepal has previously hosted power summits in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2023.

Representatives of all stakeholders, including investors from more than 30 countries, officials of diplomatic and development partner missions, government and non-governmental bodies, universities, friendly countries, national and international consulting companies, construction companies, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies to support the successful implementation of the Energy Development Roadmap, 2081 and to encourage Nepal’s growing production to do business in the regional market. The main objective is to bring together eminent personalities, experts, experts and others under one roof to hold a policy debate on various aspects of energy prosperity.

This year’s conference will bring together experts and stakeholders from the relevant fields to discuss policy, share the achievements and experiences achieved. More than 1,000 delegates, including national and international experts, top officials of government organizations, private sector and non-government sector stakeholders, are expected to participate in the conference.

IPPAN expects the summit to be a place to identify Nepal as a green energy developer by addressing regional and international concerns such as green and clean energy availability of Nepal and South Asian countries, development of innovative financial tools along with electricity and carbon trade, ensuring energy security, expanding regional connectivity through construction of inter-country infrastructures, achieving the goal of net zero emission of Nepal and South Asian countries, sustainable and inclusive energy development. has done.

The summit will also discuss the experiences and practices of different countries and development partners of the world along with policy formulation to be formulated by Nepal and other countries to deal with the challenges such as internal and external infrastructure construction and consumption enhancement, mitigation and mitigation of the impact and mitigation of climate change as well as mitigation of damage caused by natural disasters.

The summit, which focuses on these issues and issues, is expected to provide concrete suggestions and guidance to find a way forward for Nepal’s sustainable energy development and strong presence in the regional market and will help make Nepal’s energy competitive in the regional market. The private sector contributes more than 80 percent of nepal’s total energy production. Due to the investment-friendly policy put forward by the government, nepal’s total generation capacity has reached 3,602 MW and 2,900 MW of electricity is being generated from the private sector.

Within 25 years of the entry of the private sector into energy production, the private sector has been able to produce so much. So far, the private sector has invested Rs 1.3 trillion and rs 5 trillion has been earmarked for investment.

Projects of 4,200 MW capacity are under construction under the leadership of the private sector and projects of 4,100 MW capacity are awaiting financial management by completing power purchase agreement (PPA) and the Government of Nepal has put forward the Energy Development Roadmap-2081 to build an additional 25,000 MW within the next 10 years. 2025 is going to be held.
