Kathmandu. Nepal-UK Investment Meeting is being organized in collaboration with The Nepal German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Centre UK.

A meeting of the association was held on July 2, 2025 in the House of Lords in London. The objective of the meeting is to discuss trade and investment possibilities between Nepal and the UK and to promote investment. The meeting was attended by high-level officials of the Governments of Nepal and the United Kingdom and senior businessmen.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Board Nepal (IBN) Sushil Gyewali informed about the investment potential of Nepal in sectors such as energy, tourism and infrastructure. He said Nepal has already improved the investment-friendly environment. He said Nepal is becoming an attractive destination for foreign investors at present. Gyawali said That Nepal has simplified the procedures and is also providing various attractive incentives.

Stating that the government was in the process of attracting investment in hydropower, airport modernization and hospitality sector, he urged british investors to utilize nepal’s unlimited possibilities. In the same meeting, Baroness Verma opined that Nepal is a suitable destination for investment as it is strategically located between India and China. She pointed out the need for British businesses to take Nepal as an important investment destination.

Similarly, uk-based entrepreneurs praised investment-friendly reforms, but also expressed concern about the challenges in implementation. London-based technology entrepreneur George Chacko described Nepal’s policies as promising but suggested continuity in implementation.

Rabindra Jung Lamichhane of ‘Guinea London’ spoke about the various administrative hassles seen during investment. President of Nepal German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Santosh Chandra Kunwar facilitated the meeting. Urging all interested investors to invest in Nepal, he said Nepal was becoming a promising destination for foreign investment. Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK Chandra Ghimire said the embassy was ready to provide necessary assistance to serious investors. He highlighted the investment potential in Nepal and ways to make investment sustainable and attractive.

Successful examples of UK-Nepal cooperation were also presented in the meeting, in which fashion designer Sanyukta Shrestha shared her experience. Nirmal Kumar Thapa of Nepal Centre UK expressed the belief that the investment dialogue would help strengthen the economic partnership between Nepal and the UK. He also informed that a British business delegation is expected to visit Kathmandu this year. Thapa said that there are indications that various British companies are showing interest in Nepali business.
