Kavrepalanchowk. Traffic has been brought into operation on the blocked Nala-Bhaktapur road section since this morning. Traffic on the road was disrupted after a bridge at the border of Banepa municipality-4 and 1 of Kavre collapsed on Friday night.

Traffic has resumed after the broken bridge was brought into operation temporarily. According to the District Traffic Office, Banepa, traffic has been brought into operation from this morning after the temporary construction of the bridge by installing six large humpipes last night. According to Police Inspector Sunil Dhanju, the bridge has been brought into operation temporarily overnight in coordination with the Banepa Municipality Office and the Department of Roads.

The road, which falls under the Nala road section of Bhaktapur and The Chamasing road section of Bhaktapur, has been used as an alternative route to the eastern border of the capital Kathmandu. The bridge was constructed in 2037 BS.

According to locals, the bridge, built 45 years ago, collapsed after a goods vehicle crossed the bridge on Saturday night. Vehicles going to the capital and heading towards the Middle East from Radhajani were completely banned on the alternative road section, which was blocked after the bridge collapsed.

Most of the vehicles plying on the highway have been using the Nala-Chamasing road section for the last two years as the road from Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur to Kavrepalanchowk Dhulikhel is being expanded under the Araniko Highway.
