Gandaki. Kaski: The kafuche-Kori trekking route from Naula to Kori via Nauta has been upgraded under the Kafuche-Kori trekking route at Madi rural municipality-1 in Kaski district.
The trekking route has been upgraded with the assistance of Rs 3 million from The Madme Khola Hydropower Project and in collaboration with Madi Rural Municipality-1 and the local concerned committees.
The trekking route from Naula to Kori via Nauta is being upgraded, said Devi Jung Gurung, ward chair of Madi-1 and coordinator of the committee concerned. According to him, the project has already received Rs 1 million and the work is being carried out at a cost of Rs 2 million.
Stating that the attraction of domestic and foreign tourists has been increasing in the trekking route in recent times, he said they were working with the goal of developing the area through trekking tourism.
The Kafuche-Kori trekking route itself is unique in nature. Secretary of The Kafuche Tourism Entrepreneurs Sub-Committee, Krishna Gurung, said that this trekking route connecting Kafuche Glacial Lake to Kori is also preferred by tourists to observe the glacial lake as well as to observe the avalanches that fall from time to time.
The lake is located at an altitude of 2,421 meters above sea level. Spread over an area of 10,440 square meters, Kafuche has been claimed as the lowest glacial lake in the world, said Ward Chair Gurung.
The main attraction here is the panoramic view of mountains, avalanches in front of the eyes, as well as the rays of the sun in the water of the lake mixed with green and blue. Stating that kapuche glacial lake is known as ‘khfuche’ in the local Gurung language, ward chair Gurung said that kh means snow, fu means dust and che means plain land.
According to the locals, this lake is considered as Kapuche and Kafuche. Along with the calm atmosphere of the nearby glacial lake kafuche from the market, the colorful flowers of different species that bloom here during the rainy season make the forest birds look attractive.
Another destination under this trekking route is Kori, from where one can closely observe The Lamjung Machhapuchhre, Annapurna 2nd and 4th, 3 Sister etc. in front of the eyes.
After traveling for about nine hours from the tourist village of Sikles via Hugu to Naulakhark and Nauta, it reaches Koridanda at an altitude of 3,850 meters above sea level.
Tourism entrepreneur Krishna Gurung, who is also the owner of Hotel Icefall, said that during this trekking, tourists will visit annapurna and Lamjung mountains from time to time and climb through forests and traditional goths.
On the way to this route, there is a forest of Gurasaigurans. In the spring season, it becomes attractive to be painted here, while in The month of June, the beautiful flowers blooming in the kharks attract anyone.
In ancient times, the traditional route to Manang and Lamjung via Kori Sikles was in vogue. It also gained interest and discussion as a way to get salt. He said that there are four hotels in Kori at present and the number of domestic tourists coming for hiking and vacation has been increasing lately.
Guides say that the sight seen after the trekkers arrive here, who are tired due to the steep climb to reach Kori, which is able to observe the mountain together from the roots to the top, forgets all the fatigue.
Stating that the trekking route has been halted for a month due to the risk of more bushes and landslides in many places, Gurung said preparations have been made to bring it back into operation with the onset of July. He said that with the ongoing upgradation, this trekking route will be easier for the tourists coming here.
