About Rs 5 crore revenue collected from Dharahara

Kathmandu. More than Rs 48.3 million revenue has been collected from the historic Dharahara, which was rebuilt after it was completely damaged by the 2072 BS earthquake.

According to Mahesh Rai, chief TAG_OPEN_div_22 of the Interim Dharahara Operation and Management Unit, Sundhara, the dharahara, which came into operation with a fee since November 15, has collected revenue of Rs 48.365 million till July 15.

According to him, 262,555 people visited dharahara during this period. TAG_OPEN_div_20  Of these, 1,549 are foreign visitors.  Around 1,200 people climb the dharahara every day except for wednesdays, one day a week.

‘ Arrangements have been made to climb the dharahara from 10:30 am to 5 pm. In a short span of time, there was a significant presence of citizens. Due to lack of time, arrangements have not been made to visit dharahara by arranging tickets for all those who have come here,” rai said, adding, “If arrangements can be made to climb dharahara from morning to evening, then more than 1,500 people are expected to climb dharahara daily.” ’

A fee of Rs 200 per person has been fixed for boarding the

Dharahara. Students, senior citizens and children with disabilities can climb the dharahara at a discount of 50 percent. Tourists coming from SAARC countries have been charged Rs 500 per person and tourists coming from non-SAARC countries will have to pay Rs 1000 per person.

Dharahara TAG_OPEN_div_14 has come into operation since Last December by charging a fee as per the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2081. Earlier, a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on November 14 had approved the fee for climbing the dharahara.

Parking here is fixed at Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 for two-wheelers. It is said that Rs 50 has been fixed for entering the dharahara premises. Rs 5,000 per hour has been fixed for advertising of national importance at Dharahara Pillar. Similarly, rs 5,000 per hour has been fixed for commercial video shooting and Rs 1,000 per hour for photography.
