Kathmandu. The settlement, which was devastated by the floods in the Roshi Rivulet in September last year, is still at risk. With the onset of monsoon, the people living on the banks of the river are scared.
The local government is now constructing embankments to protect the settlements on the banks of Roshi. The construction of the embankment has been started from the ward level to reduce the risk in this area located in Panauti Municipality-12.
According to Panauti municipality-12 ward chair Jairam KC (Khatri), the embankment is being constructed by deepening the river to control the flow of the river and to protect the surrounding settlements.
According to him, the construction of the embankment is being carried out by giving priority to the high-risk areas by separating the boundaries of the rivers from the digital map.
A budget of Rs 18 million has been allocated for the construction of the embankment. He said that the work of Roshi Corridor will start in the next year’s budget and there is a budget of Rs 50 million for it. ।
