60 km of roads blacktopped in 8 years

Jhapa. Kankai Municipality has blacktopped 60 kilometers of roads and laid pavers in 20 kilometers in eight years of implementation of federalism.

Kankai Municipality Mayor Rajendra Pokharel said, “Kankai has taken a turn through the development of road infrastructure. So many roads have been built that now the budget for the construction of roads has to be reduced. ’

After the construction of the road, the upgradation of the road has made it easier to transport agricultural produce to the market, to move within the city and to promote tourism areas. Roshan Subedi, ward chair of Kankai municipality-4, said 11 kilometers of road has been blacktopped in his ward. “I request you to come here once to know about the development done by Kankai. ’

Amarpath, LaxmiMarg, Panchayat Marg, Janpath, Bhrikuti and Laxmipur-Ghailadubba road of Kankai, the smallest municipality in the district, are considered to be the main roads in terms of area. Most of the major roads have been blacktopped.

According to the National Census 2011, Kankai has a population of 53,000. The municipality is constructing a modern agricultural market building at Surunga of Kankai-3 at a cost of Rs 45 million 29 thousand 112. Along with agriculture, the municipality has also been investing in the health sector. A 15-bed hospital is under construction in the city. The construction of the hospital building is scheduled to be completed by May 15.

Kankai Municipality is the first electricity leakage-free, closed and tobacco-free area in Nepal. There are religious and tourist places in the city including Kankai Kotihom, Dhanushkoti Dham, Jamunkhadi Wetland, Happyland.
