Minister Adhikari’s 70 works in one year: Formation of cooperative authority, tribunal, budget for loan and savings protection fund, return of Rs 4.5 billion savings

Kathmandu. Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari has made public the important works done during his tenure in one year.

Addressing a press conference at the Ministry on Thursday, Minister Adhikari informed that 27,358 land ownership certificates have been distributed by the Land Problem Resolution Commission, Village Block Minadi and Special Survey. He also informed that land regulations have been amended, land administration guidelines and land measurement guidelines have been issued new and budget has been arranged for the establishment of land bank.

Minister Adhikari said that the formation and operation of the National Cooperative Regulatory Authority, the formation and operation of the Debt Recovery Tribunal and the provision of budget for the establishment of cooperative credit and savings protection fund have laid a good foundation for institutional reform of the cooperative sector and to solve the problems of the cooperative sector in the long term. Una informed that out of 62,760 claims of the troubled cooperatives, the savings of 8,156 people have been returned. In the meantime, rs 3.71 billion of savings have been returned, he said.

Stating that the distribution of identity cards to the poor households has gained momentum, Minister Adhikari said that now 271,640 families of 15 districts will be identified and the work of distributing state facility identity cards will be completed within the coming Dashain.
