Jhapa. Mechi Customs Office has collected Rs 15.93 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.

Information Officer at the Customs Office, Ishwor Kumar Humagain, informed that rs 14.23 billion revenue was collected in the fiscal year 2080/81 and Rs 14.04 billion in the fiscal year 2079/80.

The office has been able to collect Rs 1.69 billion more revenue in the fiscal year 2081/82 as compared to the fiscal year 2080/81. The office had set a revenue collection target of Rs 17.34 billion in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Customs Information Officer Humagain said that 91.86 percent progress has been made against the target.

Petroleum products, vegetables, transport vehicles and their parts, mineral products, plastic raw materials, coffee, pulses, fruits, electric machinery equipment, iron and iron products are imported through this customs at Kakarvitta, the eastern gateway of Nepal.

Similarly, cardamom, iron sheet, tea, plywood, chhurpi, amliso, venier sheet, molasses, cement clinker, ginger, among others, are the main items exported through this border point.
