Jhapa. Goods and goods worth Rs 47.60 billion were imported from Kakarvitta in the eastern border in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Goods worth Rs 2.93 billion were imported in the last fiscal year as compared to the fiscal year 2080/81 BS.
Ishwor Kumar Humagain, information officer and customs officer at mechi customs office, said petroleum products are the most imported. According to him, petroleum products worth Rs 19.94 billion were imported while jute and jute goods worth Rs 4.45 billion were imported.
Customs Officer Humagain said that there has been a slight increase in import and export in the last fiscal year. According to him, imports increased by 6.58 per cent or Rs 2.93 billion, while exports increased by 2.96 per cent or Rs 722.7 million.
Customs Officer Humagain informed that goods and goods worth Rs 25.13 billion were exported through this border point last year. Goods worth Rs 24.41 billion were exported in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. The main items exported from the eastern border are cardamom, iron sheets, tea, plywood, chhurpi, amriso, Veniur sit, molasses, among others.
