Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka directed all the departments and agencies under the ministry to take immediate relief measures without delay.
In an emergency high-level meeting held at the Ministry today, Minister Khadka held discussions with secretaries suresh Acharya and Sarita Dawadi under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Hitendra Dev Shakya, Director General of Irrigation Department Sanjib Baral, joint secretaries, under-secretaries and technologists.
Minister Khadka said, “Rise above the complexity of the paperwork, tender hassles, procurement system and use any legal option, give immediate relief to the people.” ’
He directed to immediately start measures like deep boring, solar pump, temporary motor set and laying pipeline for irrigation. In addition, the concerned agencies have been directed to provide advanced varieties of rice seeds and necessary agricultural equipment to the farmers, which can give high yield in less water even if they have to sow late in the field.
“Every moment of the time is decisive,” said Minister Khadka, adding, “Along with irrigation, give ease to the people by using necessary mechanisms and means for drinking water.” It’s not just the time to sit in the capital and give directions, now is the time to show work. ’
Technicians and officials who attended the meeting have pledged to implement the ministry’s directive immediately. Minister Khadka also directed to start the system of submitting the progress report every 24 hours.
