Kathmandu. Nepal’s leading payment network PhonePe and Social Security Fund have signed an agreement to launch a facility to contribute to the fund through digital means targeting Nepali workers in foreign employment.
Now Nepali workers living abroad will be able to contribute directly to the Social Security Fund through the mobile banking app of the bank under the PhonePe network. This initiative aims to make the contribution process easier and more accessible by using the reach and technology of the PhonePe network.
Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of PhonePe Paras Kunwar and Executive Director of Social Security Fund Kaviraj Adhikari signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Speaking at the program in the presence of senior officials of both the organizations, Kunwar said, “This collaboration will be very useful for overseas Nepali workers due to the wide reach of PhonePe network. This will help them contribute to the Social Security Fund in a smooth manner and also encourage the use of formal channels to send remittances. ’
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of the Social Security Fund Kaviraj Adhikari said, “Our aim is to ensure the economic security of every Nepali worker, irrespective of where they are. We believe that the contribution process will be easier and more accessible by using mobile banking through the PhonePe network. This will further strengthen the relationship between migrant workers and Nepal’s social security system. ’
This service has now started through the PhonePe Bills platform, which is available through the mobile banking app of all banks and financial institutions in Nepal.
